AMAC’s Jun Fan Gung Fu Program
The philosophy and science of Jeet Kune Do
AMAC’s Jeet Kune Do Program. Jeet Kune Do is not a style onto itself. Rather, it is the system of philosophy, concepts and training methods developed by Sijo Bruce Lee. The foundation of our curriculum for this program is Jun Fan Gung Fu which can be broken down into two basic sections; Jun Fan Kickboxing and Jun Fan Trapping. Jun Fan Gung Fu is limited to specific training methods, but Jeet Kune Do has no such limitation. A Jeet Kune Do practitioner will train in multiple ranges from kicking to punching to trapping to grappling learning to transition from each area smoothly and effectively as they pass through the ranges. There is no set curriculum for JKD, but rather the individual develops it depending on what they find that works best for them as they progress through the training and develop experience in each training environment.
No one martial art can provide all the answers needed in a self-defense situation on the street. We believe a process of cross training, researching and developing ourselves with different disciplines of the most effective martial arts in the world is used to overcome the limitations of any single martial art. Cross training enables us to fill in the gaps that some single systems might leave and to make you functional in four ranges (Kicking, Punching, Trapping and Grappling) This is the objective of JKD; to be bound by no style and in combat to use no style as style, to use no way as way, to use no system as system, to have no limitation as your limit.
The goal of our program is to teach you how to defend yourself in a real world situation. It is not a sport-based system. You will learn to end a confrontation quickly, from any range, using the most effective means possible. This class is also designed to train you, not just teach you, to defend yourself. Through repetition you will ingrain response so you will be able to act under stress.
Our program is set up in Phases; the first phase is development of the fundamentals in each range of combat.
Phase two is “The laboratory”. This is where we introduce resistance training so the student can develop and sharpen their fundamentals under stress and begin to ingrain the responses so they will be reflex.
Phase Three is the advanced level of study where the student seeks a greater depth of understanding of the techniques they are using and continued research and development.
The Art and Philosophy of Jeet Kune Do is a system of personal development that Sijo Bruce Lee and his protoge', Dan Inosanto, created and passed on to students around the world. Jun Fan Gung Fu is a name given to the techniques Sifu Lee used in his expression of J.K.D.
The Atlanta Martial Arts Center is a proud affiliate of the Inosanto International Martial Arts Instructors Association under Sifu Dan Inosanto, one of the senior students of Bruce Lee. We are also certified under Sifu Paul Vunak who is also one of the foremost JKD instructors in the United States. AMAC is one of the few schools in the area certified to teach the art and science of Jun Fan Gung Fu (Jeet Kune Do). Come by and try out a class today to see for yourself why JKD is one of the most effective self defense arts around.
