AMAC KIDS Jiu-Jitsu
AMAC is a proud affiliate of the
Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association
The AMAC KIDS
Jiu-Jitsu program is based on our adult Gracie (Brazilian) Jiu-Jitsu
program. AMAC KIDS Jiu-Jitsu is primarily a ground-fighting art. Jiu-Jitsu
involves standing self defense against punching, kicking and teaches how to
escape from common grabs and attacks. In general, most techniques
involve students on the ground where it is most effective.
AMAC KIDS Jiu-Jitsu
is a highly effective self-defense system designed to allow a smaller,
weaker person to defend his or her self against someone larger. It is
also a lot of fun! The kids love it, and it keeps them very active as
they improve their strength, flexibility and coordination.
Kids Jiu-Jitsu is outstanding for physical fitness and they will love doing it.
16 percent of children (over 9 million) 6-19 years old are overweight or obese - a number that has tripled since 1980. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
Over the past decades, the childhood obesity rate has more than doubled for preschool children and adolescents 6 to 19 years of age. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
According to a national study, 92 percent of elementary schools do not provide daily physical education classes for all students throughout the school year. (School Health Policies and Programs Study. Journal of School Health 2001:71[7])
Physical activity has been associated with increased academic performance, improved self-concept, mood, and mental health. The promotion of physical activity and exercise may also improve quality of life. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
