ITC is growing!

For those of you who haven’t noticed David Mitchell has joined the ITC Team. David has been training in our Jeet Kune Do/Personal Defensive System program and our Kali program for a few years now and recently joined ITC and has taken over teaching in our Youth Jeet Kune Do program.

Be sure to give him a pat on the back the next time you see him in class.

Thanksgiving Break:  The school will be closed for 3 days for Thanksgiving from the 26th until the 28th this month.

The next AMAC Open Mat is scheduled for Sunday, November 29nd at 11am.  The guys usually go to Papi’s Cuban Grille afterwards.

This month’s Kids Kung Fu test is scheduled for Monday, November 24th

Environmental Training

This workshop is like our JKD intermediate sparring class. Therefore, appropriate gear is required to participate.  You will need to have boxing gloves, shin guards, and a mouth piece.  A cup is optional but highly recommended.

Unlike the intermediate JKD class there is no belt requirement to participate.  This will be a training/coaching session for all of our Cross Training Members.

If you are not a member of our Cross Training Program and would like to attend this workshop, please talk to someone at the front desk.

Word From Sifu:

Another great month at the school. The Pedro Sauer Seminar went off well and the attendance was strong for the event.  Mike Israel tested for his well deserved black belt in Jiu-Jitsu under Master Sauer and performed very well. Chris and I traveled to Benidorm Spain for the Keysi Fighting Method World Conference and we stayed 3-4 days after to hang out and train with the Founders of the art. It was a good experience for us as well as an opportunity to improve the program at the school. The AMAC ITC team has a new member, David Mitchell was invited to join the team last month and accepted.

Iris and I also attended the EFC summit in Miami, Florida at the first of the month.  This event was an opportunity for us to improve the operations of the school and improve the overall service for the students.  I have also been working with Mike Clark, a student at the school, on designing new T-shirts for 2010. Mike designed the sign and graphics for the school this year.

We have also added a second Intermediate Jeet Kune Do Class on Thursday nights. This class has only been on Tuesday night for a while now and has been very popular, so we expanded it to the second night.  I am also working on a future advanced class for the Jiu-Jitsu program that will be for Blue belt students and up.

As always, thank you for your support of the school

Word From Sifu:

What a great year we have had thus far. We have had two of our ITC members (Chad Huskins, Lance Helton) get promoted to "Guro" (Instructor) in our Filipino Martial Arts Program which they have been working hard for for the last 5 years or so.

Also Chris Benfield received his Assistant Instructor certification in KFM (Keysi Fighting Method) along with the School being designated at a "Top Team" school. Chris is also planning on traveling to Spain in October to continue training with the founders of KFM in order to gather greater knowledge and bring it home to the students. AMAC is the only school in GA certified to teach this fighting method.

AMAC was also chosen as the Defensive Tactics source for the Marietta S.W.A.T. team which has also been a great opportunity for the school because of the exchange of information that will directly benefit the AMAC PDS/JKD program in the future.

We were also chosen by the Professor Sauer Jiu-Jitsu Association to host the 2009 Jiu-Jitsu summer camp. It was a very successful event and there is a good chance that we will be hosting this event yearly for that association. Also the monthly Open Mat sessions the school has been hosting has brought together multiple PSBJJA schools for a day of training and growth.

We also hosted Erik Paulson in July of this year. Erik is the founder of the Combat Submission Wrestling Program (CSW) that we teach here at the school. Erik is the coach some of today’s top MMA fighters like Brock Lesnar, Josh Barnett, and Sean Sherk.

It is our goal to continually seek out knowledge and bring it back to the school in order to ensure the highest level of instruction available in the area.

As always thank you for your support!

Train Hard and Finish Strong!
